Instrument Rating
Instrument rated pilots, who are well practiced and current in their flying experience, can safely fly by reference to instruments alone as would be required when clouds and or visibility conditions are below VFR (visual flight rules) minimums. The rating also allows pilots to file the instrument flight plans required to legally fly in controlled airspace when IFR conditions exist. Even when the weather is VFR, IFR flight plans allow pilots to participate fully in the ATC (air traffic control) system. This adds an element and safety and professionalism to any cross country flight.
Barring any weather delays or other unforeseen factors, it should take approximately 16 to 20 weeks to complete flying 2 to 4 lessons per week. Please note that my instruction is given primarily on weekends and designed specifically for clients with limited free time during the week. In order to maintain some level of scheduling flexibility between students, I also limit myself to no more than three full-time students at any given time.
